Charlestown Rowing Club About Us
About Us
Charlestown Rowing Club specialises in rowing the fixed seat CORNISH PILOT GIG.
Our club is situated in the World Heritage Cornish village of Charlestown. Our Boat Shed is near the Rashleigh Arms, which makes it ideal for access to Charlestown Harbour. In summer we launch at the harbour, or on Coastguard Beach at low tides, and row around St Austell bay from Polkerris to Blackhead when the weather conditions are safe. We launch the boats in the shelter of Fowey Harbour at Caffa Mill when weather conditions are unsafe for rowing at Charlestown and throughout the winter. Our club members include juniors, seniors, vets, ladies and men who compete in rowing Regattas and race against other clubs. We also host social events and rowing activities for Rowing & Social Members.
We have two wooden racing gigs, GRACE and DEFENDER and three GRP training gigs, SPIRIT, RASHLEIGH and TRIBUTE, and a 15ft Training Skiff and an enviable complement of oars and kit.
